The parking permit for people with reduced mobility allows parking closer to public entrances, reducing the walking distance. This service is intended for individuals with a temporary or permanent mobility limitation that makes movement difficult or risky.
To obtain this permit, an evaluation by an occupational therapist is required. During this consultation, the professional assesses the physical and cognitive abilities of the applicant to determine if their condition qualifies them for the permit. The evaluation covers mobility limitations due to motor, visual, intellectual, or other reasons. It helps confirm whether the restriction is temporary (minimum 6 months) or permanent.
The occupational therapist then completes the section of the required SAAQ form, detailing how the applicant’s condition affects their mobility. Once the form is completed, it is sent to the SAAQ, which will decide on the issuance of the permit within 4 to 6 weeks.
Whether you have a disability, chronic illness, or another condition affecting your mobility, our occupational therapists are here to guide you through this process. Our experts can even visit your home if necessary, to assess your situation in a familiar and safe environment.
